Calamus Root (Acorus calamus), an aquatic perennial also known as Sweet Flag, is a part of Ayurvetic medicine.  It is also used for luck, external wounds, and as a protection against hunger and poverty.  Methods include external teas, carrying, and incenses.  The rhizome may have a poisonous effect under certain conditions causing disturbed digestion and in severe cases, gastro-enteritis.
